Princess Charlene made her first public appearance alongside her family this weekend, but body-language experts have claimed the royal appeared “conflicted” throughout the engagement.

The South African raised royal – who has been out of the public eye following a lengthy illness –  appeared alongside husband Prince Albert and their two children; twins Jacques and Gabrielle at the Monaco E-Prix race over the weekend.

The outing marks the first time the blonde royal has been seen in public with her family late last year.

Princess Charlene has been out of the spotlight following a series of health issues; including a sinus infection and surgery in South Africa last year. The mom of two spent 10 months in the country as she recovered following the setbacks.

Upon returning to Monaco, Charlene was whisked away to Switzerland in November, where she was reportedly treated for exhaustion. Last month, the 44-year-old royal was reunited with her family over reports of her continuing her recovery in Monaco.

Prince Albert and the palace have repeatedly denied rumours of a marriage rift between the couple and have claimed the family’s separation has been due to Charlene’s ill health instead.

PRINCESS CHARLENE APPEARS IN GOOD HEALTH

Sporting a new bleached blonde pixie cut and a tailored grey suit, Princess Charlene made her fashionable debut in public.

According to Hello! magazine, the royals watched the popular Formula E electric car race, which took through the city of Monaco on Saturday 30 April.

The family were also seen on the winners podium, where father and son handed race winner Stoffel Vandoorne the trophy. Charlene was also seen presenting a trophy and shaking hands with the top three drivers of the race.

Princess Charlene and her family were previously seen in a family portrait posted on her official Instagram account during Easter. The family of four were pictured outdoors in the garden of their Monaco palace.

“Happy Easter”, Princess Charlene captioned the pics.

BODY LANGUAGE EXPERTS WEIGH IN

Meanwhile, a body language expert revealed that Princess Charlene appeared “sad”, “isolated” and “conflicted” in her first official appearance since her illness.

Speaking to MailOnline, expert Judi James said that the royal appeared “emotionally isolated”, with a “sad-looking eye expression”.

She said: “Her only verbal and non-verbal communication in these poses appear to be with her daughter and there are no signs of her using any eye-engage techniques with either her husband or the public”.

The body language expert also claimed that Princess Charlene’s smile was not genuine.

She added: “If this can be called a smile it does not reach her eyes, whereas an authentic smile will tend to start in the eye expression.

“Her mouth expression is asymmetric, pulled up very slightly at the right corner but in some shots, the left corner is curled down”.

And Twitter users echoed similar sentiments too.

@TheDuchessZone: “Nice to see Princess Charlene looking better health-wise, but she’s noticeably still unhappy. I hope she can break away from this nasty institution one day. She clearly adores her children”

@Stupidg30551923: “Princess Charlene is always here to remind me that being rich doesn’t always make your life good”

@JenniferEWatts: “Not sure how well that treatment / rehab that she had went, but Princess Charlene still looks so sad and miserable. I feel for her”

@Jppsweeney: “Princess Charlene of Monaco’s eyes projects a deep sadness”
