Final journey: Prince Philip’s sombre funeral procession [pictures]
It was a fitting funeral procession for Prince Philip, who’ll be buried in the Royal Vault under St George’s Chapel on Saturday 17 April.

In their first public appearance in more than a year, members of the British Royal family have come together to lay Prince Philip to rest.
The Duke of Edinburgh passed away at the age of 99 and is now being honoured it a farewell many say fits the kind of person he was. The only people speaking at the service are the Dean of Windsor and the Archbishop of Canterbury.
The official funeral got underway at St George’s Chapel at around 16:00 (CAT). The proceedings first got underway at Windsor Castle, where soldiers from the Grenadier Guards, carried his coffin and placed it on the back of a custom-made Land Rover he himself helped to design.
A moment of silence is then observed, then the funeral procession officially starts. Prince Philip’s family, including Princess Anne, Princes Charles, Andrew, Edward, William and Harry, followed the coffin.

As announced by Buckingham Palace, both William and Harry did not walk side by side as some would have expected. The brothers’ son, Peter Philips, was between them. There is said to be a rift between them, following an explosive interview Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle did with Oprah Winfrey.
