A royal insider recently revealed that Prince Charles was bullied during his time at the co-educational independent school for boarding and day pupils in Moray, Scotland, called Gordonstoun.

Many have speculated that the prince endured bullying while at school, as the Prince of Wales himself referred to the school as “Colditz in kilts”, alluding to the prisoner-of-war camp Colditz Castle.

Now, Majesty magazine editor Ingrid Seward brought new claims of bullying to light in a new interview with GB News host Nigel Farage. According to Geo News, Ingrid first explained her connection to the Prince’s school days and admitted her husband Ross Benson attended Gordonstoun alongside the heir.

“He let everyone know that, yeah he was at Gordonstoun with Prince Charles, in the same class,” she said. “They became great friends and knowing Ross as I did he made sure he became friends with Prince Charles.”

Ingrid said that Ross loved Gordonstoun and he said that Charles had a really hard time there.

“If you were friendly with Charles they accused you of being a sycophant, however, if you weren’t friends with him they would call you a bully, and Charles did get bullied there. There was this one story I really love, and I only discovered it much later when Ross wrote it for an article.”

Ross reportedly has a “wonderful” story to tell about Prince Charles and his sleeping habits.

“He tells this wonderful story because Prince Charles used to snore and [he was] in one of those beds by the window which was kept open all summer. So the boys in the dorm above put down a little speaker attached to a tape recorder and they recorded him snoring…And they were going to flog the tape as ‘this is the future king snoring’, well you can imagine when the headmaster found out.”

She did admit however that there is a chance the tape might still exist somewhere.

Prince Charles father, Prince Philip thrived at Gordonstoun and eventually made the decision to enrol the heir to the throne at the age of eight years old. But, where Prince Philip was athletic as a child, Charles was described as “sensitive”.

His contemporary Ross Benson reported that Prince Charles was “crushingly lonely for most of his time there. The wonder is that he survived with his sanity intact.”

According to RadioTimes, Charles wrote in a letter home in 1963: “The people in my dormitory are foul. Goodness, they are horrid. I don’t know how anybody could be so foul.” In another, he told his mother: “I hardly get any sleep in the House because I snore and I get hit on the head all the time. It’s absolute hell.” In response, the Duke of Edinburgh sent his son stern letters urging him to be stronger and more resourceful.
