President Cyril Ramaphosa has kept his close allies very close during his fifth presidential term. He also doubles as a celebrated businessman who has been recognised in Africa and the world at large.

Let’s dive into President Cyril Ramaphosa’s close allies and relatives whom he has kept close and in influential ministerial positions.

Tender Tycoon Hangwani Morgan Maumela

The celebrated Tycoon who has recently hogged headlines for the wrong reasons is Cyril Ramaphosa’s nephew by marriage. According to PoliticsWeb, in 2022, he had already scored contracts for R381 million from Gauteng public hospitals.

STRONG POLITICAL ALLIES

Bheki Cele is Ramaphosa’s darling and has been lucky enough to be appointed to ministerial positions of influence. In the mix of things, he recently kept his political allies in the loop when he made a cabinet reshuffle. Paul Mashatile was elected as the Deputy President after the resignation of David Mabuza.

His top allies and bigwigs easily retained their posts, including Mining and Energy Minister Gwede Mantashe, Public Enterprise Minister Parvin Gordhan and Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana.

Of interest is the fact that President Cyril Ramaphosa and South African billionaire Patrice Motsepe are related. Mostepe has been South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa’s brother-in-law since 1996 when the president tied the knot with Dr Tshepo Motsepe.

Motsepe is a celebrated business mogul on the Forbes list among some of the wealthiest people in Africa. He is the founder of African Rainbow Groups. Reports have it that he also chipped in with funding regarding Ramaphosa’s campaign trail when he was elected.

Politician Jeff Radebe

Jeff Radebe is one of the closest friends of President Cyril Ramaphosa. The two have been together throughout their political careers. Being a big wig of ANC, Radebe was appointed Minister Of Public Works in 1994.

A few years he saw himself serving in the ministerial position of Minister Of Justice and Constitutional Development. He became Minister in the Presidency and was later appointed Minister Of Energy by Ramaphosa in 2018.

Of interest is that they all married Patrice Motsepe’s sisters, which has even brought them closer despite their political careers.

Business mogul and his wife, Dr Tshepo Motsepe

Dr Tshepo Motsepe is the South African first lady and a celebrated business mogul. She is the third wife of President Ramaphosa. She happens to be one of the most educated women in South Africa. The first lady holds not one but two Bachelor’s Degrees from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

She also has a Master of Public Health from the Havard School Of Public Health.
