The Queen actress Thembisa Mdoda-Nxumalo recently trended for supporting entertainment commentator Phil Mphela who was slammed by tweeps for being “bribed” with promotional packages to promote shows on his social media.

The debate began when Mphela tweeted about a promotional package he received from e.tv’s fashion drama House of Zwide before giving his “opinion” about the show.

PHIL MPHELA STANDS BY HIS WORD

A tweep asked Phil if he’s suddenly tweeting about the new show because of the promotional package he received.

Another tweep asked him:

What if the production wanted to do their own reveal?

What if no formal agreement has been signed and you have already announced?

It’s cool to be the first to break a huge story.. but it’s awesome to break the story after getting clearance from the owners.

Phil took to his Twitter account to say:

Hehehe. Tlogela mona (stop being jealous).

When channels send me gifts, they are not buying my opinion.

Even shows I get paid to promote, I always insist that I get to have my own organic reaction.

The entertainment commentator says he’s actually assisting channels when he posts about a show before the channel makes an official announcement.

People get more interested when channels eventually announce the news a day or week before the premiere.
