Queen Sono actress Pearl Thusi has begun a legal process to adopt another daughter, this time from a recovering drug addict relative.

The actress, who has a 13-year-old daughter Thandolwethu with her ex-boyfriend Walter Mokoena, adopted a six-year-old daughter Okuhle from Ghana a few years ago and also shared her desire to adopt many children in an interview with News24.

Pearl Thusi seeking sole custody

Thusi does not only want sole custody for her relative’s child but wants her relative’s parental responsibility and guardianship terminated.

PEARL’S THIRD DAUGHTER?

A Sunday World article has reported that the media personality plans to adopt a five-year-old girl and has filed papers in the Johannesburg High Court.

According to the article, the actress is already living with the five-year-old girl because her biological mother simply can’t take care of her.

The actress told the courts that her relative is an unfit mother because she is a drug addict who suffers from depression, and lives in an appalling condition that is not conducive to raising the five-year-old child.

‘Toxic environment’

She also told the courts that the relative lives in a violent side of KwaZulu-Natal that is riddled with crime.

When family members want to see or bond with the child, the mother rents a better place in KwaZulu-Natal, which is more accommodating.

Thusi and the biological mother of the child both agree that the little girl deserves a better life and should not be raised in a toxic environment.

‘Nomadic lifestyle’

The former Isidingo actress also stated that the mother leads a nomadic lifestyle and loses cellphones, and is unable to maintain regular contact with the child.

Thusi’s court application read:

The second applicant and I seek an order in, inter alia the following terms: ordering that I am awarded the sole parental responsibilities and rights of care and guardianship, as defined in terms of Children’s Act No 38 of 2005.

Consequent upon the granting of the prayer above, ordering that the second applicant’s parental responsibilities and rights of care and guardianship in respect of [name withheld], as defined in terms of the act, are terminated.

Pearl Thusi’s first adopted daughter

The actress previously told News 24 that her home didn’t need a papa bear and said every child deserves love and that mothers are like heroes.

Your nameless neighbour mothered you.

And every child was watched and protected by the community.

We can do so much better.

Let’s create a better tomorrow for every child we can….

She previously adopted a little girl named Okuhle in November 2018 while in Ghana and raved about how she resembles her older sister Thandolwethu.

I was suddenly having a bad day… but the show had to go on… and then God sent this angel to me.

She saw me and her eyes lit up. I smiled right back… she yanked her hand from her dad’s grip, ran to me, and gave me the biggest hug. It was more than what I needed…
