Blood and Water actress Natasha Thahane has topped the Twitter trends after tweeps demanded that she pay back the money following her grandfather’s (Desmond Tutu) passing on Sunday 26 December at the age of 90.

Tweeps are demanding the actress pay back the R1 million scholarship she said she recently received from the Department of Arts and Culture.

DESMOND TUTU PASSES AWAY

Tweeps are demanding that Desmond Tutu’s granddaughter, Natasha Thane payback the money.

Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu passed away today (26 December).

The Nobel Laureate passed away aged 90 in Cape Town from prostate cancer.

Tutu was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984 for his role as a unifying leader in the campaign to end apartheid.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has expressed his sadness, saying he was a leader of principle and pragmatism who gave meaning to biblical insight.

‘PAYBACK THE MONEY NATASHA THAHANE’

Tutu’s granddaughter, Natasha Thahane began trending minutes after the presidency confirmed his passing.

Tweeps are demanding the Blood and Water actress to pay the R1 million with her late grandfather’s policies when they kick in.

Thahane revealed in her interview on MacG’s Podcast & Chill last month that she received funds from the government.

She said she reached out to politician Baleka Mbet as she needed funding to study at the New York Film Academy in the United States in 2017.

She added that she “made a call” to Baleka and asked her to help get her money to study.

Baleka, who was the speaker of parliament and the ANC chairperson at the time allegedly arranged her funding.

“I asked Mam’ Baleka (Mbete) and was like, ‘Mama, I need to go back to school. I’ve been accepted.”

“I don’t know what I’m going to do, can I have funds?”

“Please arrange something for me.”

“She managed to speak to (the department) Arts and Culture and they were able to help me.”
