South African human rights activists and poet Ntsiki Mazwai shared some harsh words with Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema following his Women’s Day speech on Tuesday this week. Judging by her tweets, Mazwai was not happy with the fact that it was Malema addressing the issues women are faced with in South Africa or with what he had to say.

Her tweets on the matter sparked a huge debate online as many EFF supporters headed to the comment section to defend their Commander In Chief (CIC).

Ntsiki Mazwai slams Malema’s Women’s Day speech

Julius Malema is one of dozens of influential South Africans who took to podiums across the country to address National Women’s Day celebrators and the issues that for long have impacted women in the country.

Controversial podcaster and media personality Ntsiki Mazwai is seemingly not happy with what Malema had to say and made this clear in a tweet labeling him he former African National Congress (ANC) member as “toxic”.

According to Mazwai, Malema centred what was meant to be a speech addressing women, on himself.

In the same breath, she criticised the women who support the controversial political party.

“South Africa is the pits….. When a Julius Malema is the one to address and center himself on women’s day. A toxic man who has ZERO respect for women…Again eff women are clowns.”

EFF supporters hit back

The tweet didn’t go down well with EFF supporters who quickly resorted to calling the 41-year-old “bitter”.

Some called on Mazwai – and other women – to start their own parties and stop “whining”.

@theafricangod wrote:

“Women should start their own political parties to do as they please and stop whining. You too Ntsiki awusxolele tu kunini waqala ubanga iscefe ngalento, you sound like a broken record now!!”

@kongobdk said:

“At least those “clowns” don’t talk too much like you, they’re on the ground making a difference… & funny enough they don’t even entertain you, not an inch”

Some, however, did agree with Mazwai and claimed that Malema started blocking them on Twitter after they asked him some serious questions about gender-based violence.
