Hulisani Ravele and Tbo Touch among other celebrities have called out Eskom and the City of Johannesburg to fix the country. Taking to their popular social media accounts during the week, the influential media personalities expressed their concerns about the country’s state.

HULISANI RAVELE ON LOAD SHEDDING STAGE SIX

On Wednesday 11 January, Eskom announced that they had implemented stage six load shedding.

Following the announcement, Ravele shared took to her timeline to express her feelings on the matter and said,

“Life as a South African citizen is overwhelming at the moment…and whilst the collective tries to figure out what can be done to change all this, the individual; the parent, the entrepreneur, the breadwinner; just sits in darkness and breaks. It’s all so heavy for so many.”

The post was greeted by social media users who agreed with the radio personality. Some added that for some people, the ongoing problem is also affecting South African’s mental well-being.

Other Tweeps wondered whether politicians cared at all about the state of the country or if they were just merely interested in matters that only benefited themselves.

TBO TOUCH PLEADS WITH THE CITY OF JOHANNESBURG

The City of Johannesburg was also placed under the spotlight by Tbo Touch. The radio personality took to Twitter to share a picture of a filthy street in the city.

In the picture, several busted refuge bags could be seen polluting the street. The paved walk was flooded with dirty water and people could be seen in the picture nonchalantly going about their day.

In sharing the picture, Tbo Touch captioned, “Please City of Johannesburg, let’s fix this.”

According to TshisaLive, last year Tito Mboweni also voiced his concerns about the sanitary and waste problem the country faced.

On 3 December, the former minister of finance warned that “bubonic plaque might visit” citizens if the government does not take the necessary steps in fixing the country.
