On Friday, 10 February last week, South African rapper AKA — real name Kiernan Jarryd Forbes — was shot and killed in front of Wish on Florida in Durban last week. Police confirmed that the killing was an assassination. After clips of the killing were shared online, many South Africans started speculating about who could be behind it. Many fingers pointed at Moses Tembe – the father of the rapper’s former fiancee Nelli Tembe.

He has since spoken out against those people and asked them to stop “implicating” him in the murder.

Moses Tembe says the accusations against him are emotionally damaging

Moses Tembe has asked social media users to stop implying that he has had anything to do with the murder of Fela in Versace hitmaker AKA.

Moses, the father of Anele “Nelli” Tembe who died after allegedly committing suicide in 2021, says that being implicated in the murders has caused him emotional damage.

In yet another press release, Moses urged people to consider his family who is still dealing with the untimely passing of their daughter who was engaged to Nelli at the time of her death.

“It is with grave concern that my family and I have had to endure a flurry of posts on various social media platforms that accuse me, and members of my family, of being involved in the death of Kiernan Forbes. These accusations are untrue and without substance,” said Moses in the first press release he shared with TimesLive.

Abusing freedom of speech?

In the second press release shared this week, he went on to ask people to be careful how they use their freedom of speech.

“I categorically state that my family feel the pain of the Forbes family and would never be involved in an abhorrent act of this nature.

“While I value the principle of freedom of speech, these cruel and libelous utterances inflict personal and emotional harm on us. After having to deal with the tragedy of the untimely passing of our daughter, this senseless crime has taken a further emotional toll on us. I respectfully request the individuals making these baseless statements to refrain from doing so.”
