JUB JUB AND MOJA LOVE’S LEGAL BATTLE

In February, it was reported that the musician was taking Moja Love to the cleaners after they failed to pay him his salary and terminated his contract.

According to City Press, a senior source at Moja Love revealed that the rapper — whose real name is Molemo Maarohanye — was fired as host of the cheating show via a letter.

“They didn’t want to fire him at first. They gave him the option of apologising to the woman who was organising the Moruleng event with him when they withheld his salary last month,” said the source.

The woman in question is the musician’s business partner, Keabetswe Mokoena. The pair had a fall-out in December last year after Mokoena accused the artist of verbal abuse, harassment, emotional stress, and “substantial harm to her professional reputation and business.”

As a result of the accusations — which the presenter denied — Moja Love reportedly withheld his January salary, resulting in a legal dispute.

His lawyer, Ntsako Baloyi of Baloyi-Ntsako Attorneys, said at the time: “It’s not clear why he was dismissed. It’s unfortunate that he wasn’t paid his salary for January. When we enquired about it and demanded that he be paid, we received a letter stating that he had been let go.

“We’re in the process of approaching the high court and we don’t want to discuss details at the moment.”

According to The Citizen at the time, Moja Love claims that the presenter was not fired as he is not a permanent employee.

“Jub Jub is an independent contractor and, therefore, cannot be dismissed as he is not a permanent employee of the channel.

“Moja LOVE is also not at liberty to discuss the contents of his contract as it is confidential and of a privileged nature.“
