Meghan Markle’s version of events has been hotly disputed by a royal reporter, who was on tour with the royal family in South Africa in 2019.

Days after her bombshell account of an alleged fire scare in Cape Town involving son Archie, Robert Jobson has spoken out to share his side of the story.

In the first episode of her Spotify podcast Archetypes this week, Meghan recanted how a room baby Archie was supposed to be napping in “caught on fire”.

Meghan also alleges that royal aides forced her and Harry to continue their engagements despite being “shaken” and “in tears”.

ROYAL REPORTER SLAMS CAPE TOWN FIRE CLAIMS

And whilst Meghan Markle’s headlines have caused ructions yet again with the British Royal Family, the royal reporter claims there is little truth to it.

Jobson is the Royal Editor for the Australian breakfast show Sunrise . He’s also the royal contributor for Good Morning America.

Speaking on Sunrise, he shot down Meghan’s claims, stating: “I was on that trip. There were no reports in any of the papers or anything about fire engines being called to the residence. The simple truth is that they weren’t.

“The foreign office (in South Africa) has come back and said, ‘We have all our procedures in place and safety in all the places they were staying in with the British embassy’.

“So look it seems that there’s Meghan’s truth and the truth.”

According to Meghan’s version of events, a heater was to blame for the alleged fire scare.

He added: “(The aides are) getting trashed here because the suggestion is that the place was on fire.

“The baby wasn’t in the room, he was with the nanny. And there was a smoking heater that wasn’t plugged in. It’s a slightly different story to reality.”

Asked why Meghan “exaggerated”, Jobson claimed: “She’s got to sell this podcast. And I can only say that this is a pretty sad way of doing that”.

‘DOES IT MATTER?’, SAYS MEGHAN MARKLE’S FRIEND

Amid the scrutiny, Meghan’s long-time friend and royal biographer Omid Scobie has defended the royal.

He shared in his Yahoo News column: “Two aides have already pushed back on Meghan’s ‘precise recollection’ of events in South Africa. One told a tabloid that it was a smoking heater, not a fire (does it matter?) and another claimed it is ‘unfair’ to share such stories when the royal household cannot comment”.

He added: “But then this is the reality that the royal institution helped create”.

Of Meghan’s podcast, Omid quipped: “Once silenced by the establishment, it’s clear that Meghan finally has her voice back. A voice that will be very familiar to those who followed her before Harry. This time, however, she’s brought an entire movement alongside it”.
