Royal insiders have poured cold water over bombshell claims made by Meghan Markle surrounding her and her husband Prince Harry’s royal tour of South Africa in 2019.

In her debut episode of Spotify podcast Archetypes, the mom-of-two recalled how a reported fire threatened the safety of her then-infant son Archie, whilst at a Cape Town residence.

Meghan alleged that after the fire scare, royal aides “forced” her to continue her public engagements. This, despite her being “shaken” and “in tears”.

Now sources are disputing the fire allegations, which have been seen as an “attack” on the royal family.

ROYAL INSIDERS DISPUTE MEGHAN’S ‘FIRE SCARE’ STORY

According to MailOnline, royal sources revealed to the publication that they had “no recollection” of a fire occurring.

The sources did, however, claim that there was a heater, which “was smoking, unplugged and dealt with”.

The publication states that the alleged incident took place on 23 September 2019 – the first day of the royal tour, which kicked off in Cape Town. Meghan, Harry, and baby Archie, along with his nanny Lauren, were staying at the home of the British High Commissioner, claims the publication.

During her podcast, Meghan claims that she and her husband Harry were at a public engagement in Nyanga when they heard the news of the incident.

With Archie remaining at the “housing unit” to have a nap, Meghan revealed that her nanny had an “instinct” to carry the baby on her back, instead of putting him down.

She said: “In that amount of time that she went downstairs, the heater in the nursery caught on fire. There was no smoke detector. Someone happened to just smell smoke down the hallway, went in, fire extinguished.

“He was supposed to be sleeping in there”.

‘THE SHOW MUST GO ON’

Meghan continued that royal aides pressurised her to continue her engagements, despite the alleged traumatic incident.

She continued: “We came back. And, of course, as a mother, you go, ‘Oh, my God, what?’

“Everyone’s in tears, everyone’s shaken. “And what do we have to do? Go out and do another official engagement! I said, ‘This doesn’t make any sense.’ I was like, ‘Can you just tell people what happened?’

“We had to leave our baby”.

But whilst Meghan may have been traumatised at the course of events, royal experts have claimed it was necessary for the “show to go on”.

Royal biographer Angela Levin tweeted: “Meghan outraged that she had to go on another royal engagement in South Africa after she heard there was a fire in baby Archie’s room. Nasty to hear but as an actress doesn’t she know the show must go on? Luckily he wasn’t there but odd it was never leaked to the press”.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams added to MailOnline: “No one had been hurt . And although it must have been highly upsetting, there was surely no alternative but to continue with the itinerary of their tour
