Sportscaster and reality TV star Andile Ncube has taken a dig at South African president Cyril Ramaphosa and also announced that he will join the National Shutdown following another petrol price hike that will take effect on Wednesday 6 July.

Ncube is not the only one who is unhappy with the new petrol prices as Kaya FM radio host and businessman Sizwe Dhlomo also directed a scathing tweet to the ANC on Monday 4 July.

PETROL PRICE HIKEAGAIN

On Monday, the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy confirmed new petrol increases that will worsen the cost of living crisis for cash-strapped consumers.

From Wednesday, the price of 93 octane petrol will rise by R2.37 a litre and 95 octane by R2.57 a litre. The increase in the prices of petrol alone means that consumers will be forking out close to R27 a litre for different grades of petrol, which is almost R10 a litre more than a year ago.

ANDILE NCUBE PLANS TO JOIN THE MARCH

As a result of the announcement of petrol price adjustments, the hashtag #NationalShutdown made it to the trends list on Twitter. South Africans are planning to take to the streets to oppose the high cost of living that has now become a reality in the country.

Andile Ncube took to Twitter to react to the new prices, saying President Ramaphosa is in a better financial place because he at least has money stashed in his mattress. Ncube’s tweet is a reference to the Phala Phala Farm scandal that the president is still facing.

Further stating his views, the Metro FM sports presenter who is also a cast member on Young Famous and African, said he’s willing to take to the streets to march against the increasing petrol prices.

SIZWE DHLOMO’S MESSAGE TO THE ANC

Sizwe Dhlomo also took to Twitter to give the ruling party a piece of his mind.

Also reacting to the cost of living that is about to worsen due to the new petrol prices, Dhlomo told the ANC (in IsiZulu) that the life it is subjecting the South African citizens to is “utter rubbish”.

When one tweep told Dhlomo not to insult a party his grandfather Isaac Dhlomo worked hard to preserve, the former Newzroom Afrika presenter said:

“But this is why I’m pained my dogg because I can tell you, uyahamba um’buso uma kunje! [power is being lost!] Akekho umuntu ozovotela lento! [No one will vote for this!]”
