Mark Pilgrim: Thinking of radio presenter on World Cancer Day

Popular DJ Mark Pilgrim has been in the thoughts and prayers of South Africans in recent months, no more so than Saturday, 4 February 2023.

Today is World Cancer Day.

As extensively reported by The South African website, Pilgrim has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, which he revealed in June 2022 had spread to his femur, the base of his spine and lymph nodes.

He has provided regular social media health updates to his followers in his ongoing battle against the dreaded disease.

In his most recent post on Thursday, the Hot102.7fm radio DJ shared with his Twitter and Instagram followers that his “body was depleted”.

The 53-year-old, who previously worked at 5FM, 94.7 Highveld Stereo, 94.5 Kfm and Hot91, added that ‘after chemo and immuno last Thursday it’s just been pouring out both ends‘.

Pilgrim wrote: “A lot of sleeping the last few days. Body is depleted. After chemo and immuno last Thursday it’s just been pouring out both ends. I’m like a shriveled pea. 😳🥴.”

Meanwhile, as reported by The South African website, Pilgrim proposed to his partner Adrienne Watkins on New Year’s Eve last year, shortly after he was discharged from hospital, having spent 64 days – during which time he lost almost 15kg – in ICU.
