According to Daily Sun, Zama’s life will be honored in a memorial service held on Friday 20 January at KwaMashu L Hall in Durban, Kwazulu-Natal. On Saturday, 21 January, her friends, family, and community members will gather at the same location to bid their last farewell at her funeral service.

“The funeral and memorial service will take place here at KawaMashu because she lived here. She was a people’s person, so we are expecting a lot of people,” she said a family spokesperson Balungile Gumede.

She added, “We decided to hold the memorial service in the afternoon because we wanted to accommodate everyone. We also understand that some may not be able to attend the actual funeral due to work commitments. So this is a chance for everyone to come and bid farewell.”

Her untimely passing has sent shockwaves throughout the country, and condolence messages continue to pour in. The 64-year-old’s tragic passing came days after her son Mandla ‘Mampintsha‘ Maphumulo, succumbed to a stroke and was laid to rest on 30 December 2022. Speaking to Daily Sun, Mampintsha’s sister, Pinki Gumede said her mother died with a broken heart. She said her health deteriorated after she saw Babes Wodumo’s video that left tongues wagging online where she was seen dancing and performing at nightclubs just days after her son’s funeral.

“She told me she was old and that she was leaving. She asked if everyone was around, and I said yes. She wanted to see Sponge, Mampintsha’s son, and I told her he was not around. I could see the sadness in her eyes, and she did not say anything,” the publication quoted Pinky as saying.

“She gave us her blessing, and we spent some time with her. We then left. At about 10h00, I received a call informing me that she was dead,” the grieving daughter added.

She also told the publication that she had been devastated by the deaths of her mother and brother, and was struggling to cope.“I am definitely not coping, it’s a double sword for me. I lost two important people within a space of three weeks. But what makes things even harder is that we were not financially prepared for this. As far as policies are concerned, Mampintsha took care of everything. We were still trying to get things in order, but I guess the time was not on our side”.
