Energetic singer-songwriter Makhadzi has been accused of pulling a no-show at an event in Mahikeng, North West on Sunday 17 April. The event organisers told SowetanLive that the singer’s management team would ignore their communication about certain requests. The organisers also allegedly heard “rumours” that the singer “normally doesn’t pitch for gigs”.

MIGA EVENTS BOOKS MAKHADZI TO PERFORM IN MAHIKENG

As per Miga Events’ Facebook page, Makhadzi was set to headline the Easter Sunday family picnic on 17 April in Ramatlabama, just outside of Mafikeng. As per SowetanLive, trouble began when the 25-year-old’s team requested to change her performance time.

“At that point, we were hearing rumours from fellow industry people that Makhadzi normally doesn’t pitch for gigs,” recalls Miga Events’ Tshephe.

Makhadzi’s road manager then asked the Miga Events, the event’s organisers, if the performance will be postponed due to heavy rains.

“We informed her that our stage was covered and that there were no rains in Mahikeng that day. Later that evening, around 20:00, they came back and said they have a problem and that Makhadzi was in Venda and her car had broken down,” recalls Miga Events’ Tshephe.

MIGA EVENTS REQUESTS REFUND

After doing some digging, Miga Events allegedly discovered that the star singer was double booked for 17 April. As a result of Makhadzi’s no-show, Miga Events requested that her team refund them the R70 000 booking fee that was paid for the Ghanama hitmaker’s appearance.

While Miga Events had accused Makhadzi’s management of not refunding the money, Makhadzi’s management said: “The promoter requested the video and the apology video was sent to the event organiser as requested.”

“According to our records, the client has been paid in full. We value our clients and will always make sure that any inquiry sent to the office is resolved.”

Miga Events denied receiving payment from the star’s management team.

MAKHADZI PREVIOUSLY ACCUSED OF EVENT NO-SHOW

In December, the Limpopo-born singer was booked to perform at a wedding in her home province but allegedly did not pitch.

Makgobatse Lesoalo said: “On the day of the wedding, Makhadzi’s team phoned us and said they would only be arriving the next day. I told them not to bother coming because the wedding would not be over by then”.
