SPRINGBOK PAYS TRIBUTE TO ANTI-APARTHEID HERO GRANDPA

In a tweet, Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu dedicated his stellar performance in his Springbok debut to his grandfather.

“Hope I made you proud, Grandpa,” he posted alongside a link to an article about Feinberg, who died last year.

According to the SABC, Feinberg was a distinguished artist, poet, and author who “played a pivotal role behind the scenes in designing and creating publicity materials for the anti-Apartheid movement.”

Daily Maverick credits Feinberg for his revolutionary creation of the early ANC and Umkhonto weSizwe logos, which features a warrior with a shield and spear.

During apartheid, Feinberg was forced into a 30-year exile, where he fathered his son Nick, the father of Sacha Feinberg-Mgomezulu.

MAKING THE SA VS IRELAND SQUAD

Meanwhile, Springboks coach Rassie Erasmus has announced a squad of 39 players—including Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu—who will face off against Ireland in the next two test series.

The Boks will take on one of their biggest rivals on 6 July and 13 July at Loftus Versfeld and the Hollywoodbets Kings Park, respectively.

Rassie said in a statement: “We named the best squad available for the Castle Incoming Series, and with squad depth being one of our key pillars as we build toward to the 2027 Rugby World Cup and the Test against Portugal, we thought it would be beneficial to us to name a standby squad with a few players who will join us at training sporadically in the next few weeks”.
