‘Muvhango’ star Tebatso Mashishi joins ‘Queen Modjadji’

‘Muvhango’ actor Tebatso Mashishi has secured the role of Dabedi in Mzansi Magic’s upcoming series, ‘Queen Modjadji’.

Actor Tebatso Mashishi, who portrays the role of Kgosi in Muvhango, has joined Queen Modjadji.


Entertainment commentator Phil Mphela reports that actor Tebatso Mashishi will portray the role of Dabedi in Queen Modjadji.

Mashishi will act alongside his Muvhango co-stars Mudi Mudau and Aubrey Mmakola.

IOL confirms that Mudau will play the role of Khadikhulu, who is Maselekwani’s Rakhadi and head teacher and adviser.

While Mmakola portrays the role of Kgoshi Mampuru. The king of the neighbouring Bapedi Kingdom. Mmakola is an actor, dialogue coach and director who has made his mark on the acting scene.

Legendary actor Putla Sehlapelo has secured the role of Ramulodi, the keeper of the secret and the king’s keeper.

Popular actress Makoma Mohale, who portrays Tlhogi in Scandal!, has secured the leading role of Queen Modjadji, The Rain Queen.


The Queen Modjadji star Tebatso Mashishi is known for playing KK Mulaudzi’s (McDonald Ndou) son, Kgosi in Muvhango.

YouthVillage reports that Mashishi joined the SABC2 soapie in 2017 as a third assistant director.

He was later offered the role of businessman Khakhathi “KK” Mulaudzi’s son, Kgosi Mulaudzi.

The actor and musician is also known for his lead role as Papi in Matwetwe (Lizard).

Matwetwe is a hilarious coming-of-age adventure directed by actor and comedian Kagiso Lediga.


Tebatso Mashishi will also star alongside The Wife actor Sipho Ndlovu and The River star Wiseman Zitha in the upcoming drama series Queen Modjadji.

Zitha will portray the role of Mamaila, while Ndlovu portrays the character of General Phaahla.

DStv reveals that the series is produced by Rhythm World Productions, who’ve produced Sibongile and The Dlaminis, My Brother’s Keeper, Umkhokha: The Curse and many more. The production has consulted tribal leaders, and academic experts.

Muvhango creator Duma Ndlovu, who is the leading production, says: “The earth, the elements, and the energy of humans connect in ways that are both physical and spiritual, both obvious and unseen.

Queen Modjadji was a living embodiment of this, and so we will explore what this royal title, and the women who’ve held it, have lived, sacrificed, lost, and achieved.”

The upcoming drama series premieres on 14 July at 20:00 on Mzansi Magic (DStv channel 161).
