Papa Penny, real name Eric Nkovani, confirms he’s dumped the ANC for Jacob Zuma’s uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party.

The reality TV star Papa Penny tells EWN that he resigned as a member of the African National Congress (ANC) earlier last week to join MK Party.

Nkovani trended on social media on Saturday, 18 May when he headlined the party’s manifesto launch at Orlando Stadium in Soweto.

The publication adds that Nkovani submitted his resignation as both a councillor and a member of the ANC.

He reveals he’s gained enemies in the governing party following a failed bid to become the leader of the ANC in Limpopo.

“There is no wife or husband who can divorce without any problems, but I cannot spoil the ANC. I have to talk about my new home, that the problems between me and the people of the ANC.

“No one is clean. If you want to go for who’s dirty, everybody is dirty. People need service delivery, we need [a strong] economy in South Africa, we need to bring people together, we have to unite South Africa, we have to clean the suffering people, the poor people in the streets.”

Bona reports that ANC’s Paul Mashatile as well as General Fikile Mbalula recently attempted to stop the singer from performing at MK’s manifesto launch.

@43556400: “And he is definitely going to bring a lot of supporters from back home in Limpopo. Malamlele remember he is also a chief besides being a musician.”

@skkfred: “Papa Nomi must wait until something doesn’t go well in that party. He will be reminded that he’s Tsonga in a very disrespectful way.”

@amudeeh: “Hate him or love him, the man is a strategist, a singer and a great dancer. He almost brought our country down thou 9 years. He says he wants to fix things.”

@MaShengeOffline: “I honestly don’t understand people when they say this is a Zulu party. You can be easily convinced if you lack knowledge of the things this guy has done for the country. He didn’t focus on Zulu people or KZN. He built schools in Limpopo, Mpumalanga and so on. What has Cyril done?”

Sunday World reports that MK Party leader Jacob Zuma has described South Africa as a paradise for white people and hell for the indigenous people of the land.

Zuma also revealed during his party’s mandate rally at Orlando Stadium on Saturday that unemployment mainly affects black people, not others.

“When you talk about unemployment, it mainly affects black people, not others. People who stay in shacks are only black people.

“The only people who stay in villages are black people, and there are no jobs there, so they must migrate to cities to work for close to nothing while their families get destroyed. White people have solid family units because everyone stays under one roof in the cities.”
