What caused ‘7de Laan’ star Adrian Alper’s death?

Former ‘7de Laan’ and ‘Generations’ actor Adrian Alper Pastor passed away on Tuesday, 14 May at the age of 51.

Talented actor Adrian Alper, who’s appeared in Generations and 7de Laan has passed away.


Actor Spaces confirmed on Tuesday, 14 May that the 7de Laan and Isidingo alumni, Adrian Alper passed away at 51 years.

The Star reports that Alper reportedly died from complications with tuberculosis.

The actor, writer and director played the role of Pastor Gammies in 7de Laan and Lesley in Generations.

TVSA reports that he’s also starred in Gaz’lam, Isithembiso, Rhythm City, Plek van die Vleisvreters, Gwarra-Gwarra Munisipaliteit, and Sterlopers.

The director and writer also played roles in Trackers, Terug an Egipte, Suidooster, Vetkoekpaleis, Roer Jou Voete, Koelpixels and Zero Tolerance.

The comedian is also famously known for playing Calvin in the sitcom Streaks and Sharky in Isidingo.

He also starred in the theatre production The Coolie Odyssey in 2003. IOL reported at the time that the actor played three different characters in the play.

The late actor told the publication: “I am excited to play three different characters with three different focuses. Not only do you have monkeys telling us about the past, but you also have gods appearing. It’s a powerful play, and it reveals how people react in certain situations.”

The thespian also starred alongside actor Vusi Kunene, Carl Nel, Matie Van Graan in Amazon Prime’s film titled Seconds.


Zimoja reports that South African actors have paid tribute to the legendary actor and writer Adrian Alper.

Former 7de Laan director and actor Neo Matsunyane said: “No! This sucks big time. He was in 7de Laan towards the end in a few episodes I directed. May his soul rest easy.”

Scandal! and The River star Masasa Mbangeni said: “We grew up watching amazing talented people like Adrian. May his soul rest in peace.”

Uzalo actor Bhekisizwe Mahlawe said: “You made it easy to work with you mfwethu. Rest in peace, King.”

7de Laan alumni Ilse Klink said, “Just the other day, I recommended Adrian to someone who wanted an acting coach. He had such talent for coaching the actor. This saddens me so much. Rest in peace dearest.”

Rhythm City star Zola Hashatsi: “Thank you Adrian Alper for paving the way and teaching the country and industry with the HIV storyline on @generations_the_legacy. Rest my brother, we appreciate your talents.”

The South African will give an update about his funeral and memorial service as soon as possible.
