Boomtown has announced their entertainment line up for the much anticipated horse racing event, Hollywoodbets Durban which takes place on Saturday 6 July.


The Durban July is one of the most anticipated events of the year in South Africa. The horse racing event, hosted by Hollywoodbets takes place on the first Saturday in July every year. Boomtown, which is presented by Johnnie Walker Blonde, has announced the entertainment line up for the event.

The event is set to offer world class sound and lighting featuring some of the biggest names in the South African music industry at the Durban July this year. So, who can fans expect at the event this year?

  • International DJ duo Major League and hiphop royalty KO
  • Maglera will make his debut on the Boomtown stage
  • Local favourites KOTW and supporting them, Ms Cosmo and Ten Oceans will hold down the decks
  • Goldmax, Shilly Mingz, DJ Hands and Devlin also confirmed.

Back for the 14th edition, this fashion and lifestyle extravaganza will once again play host to a dazzling array of South Africa’s biggest names in entertainment, sports and business.   • The Durban July started back in 1897 at Greyville Racecourse in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal and has been hosted annually on the first Saturday of July.
  • The biggest Durban July ever saw a total of 33 horses back in 1917.
  • While the smallest race was in the debut year, 1897 which only saw 7 horses race. This happened in 1908 as well.
  • Anton Marcus holds the record as the leading jockey, with five victories to his name.
