TWITTER ACCUSES LLOYD OF BEING HOMOPHOBIC

Earlier in the week, R&B superstar Chris Brown co-signed Idols SA alum Lloyiso when he shared the South African singers’ latest single, Run‘s lyric video, on his Instagram stories.

Rewind a few years back to 2019, when English singer-songwriter Sam Smith performed in South Africa. Lloyiso desperately wanted to open for the singer and even recorded his own rendition of Smith’s hit single Pray.

Lloyiso’s rendition surfaced again, and a fan even suggested that he might be the South African version of Sam Smith.

The Idols alum was, however, quick to clap back, telling the fan he would block him.

This after Lloyiso in 2019 himself Tweeted that he wanted to “be like Sam Smith,” a Tweet that swiftly reappeared.

TWEEPS WERE LEFT SURPRISED BY SINGER’S STRONG REACTION

Tweeps quickly started trolling the singer, even after he called them out for being “so dumb.”

One Tweep wrote: “It was good enough when you were TOLD you were Smith, now not anymore? Sometimes you all must realise you have fans who wish you well and possibly follow you and remember your posts/utterances. Awuzuphumanto by realising that this was a compliment based on your wishes.”

Another Tweep even suggested that he might be upset because he is ‘homophobic.’

“This is so funny coming from someone who’s still in the closet,” another wrote.

The local singer, however, quickly clapped back, Tweeting: “Like an da version of are 2 different things, it’s an inferiority complex to say “African version” of any artist. I am a big fan of Sam smith and “like” him I want to be great! This mentality needs to stop.”

“Imagine wasting my beautiful time arguing with Twitter trolls. Molweni nonke!,” he wrapped up the comments.
