On Friday, 12 May 2023, Elon Musk revealed that he had appointed Linda Yaccarino, the head of advertising at NBCUniversal, to replace him as the chief executive officer of Twitter.

Social media was abuzz as users tried to learn more on Yaccarino.

The tweet came barely 24 hours after Musk revealed he had found someone to lead the social media company.

Musk will assume the executive chairperson and chief technology officer role with Yaccarino’s appointment as the new CEO.

With Yaccarino expected in the office in six weeks, here’s all you need to know about the new Twitter CEO.


The 60-year-old New Yorker is a graduate of Penn State University.

At NBCUniversal, Yaccarino was the chair of global advertising and partnerships and has been part of the company since 2011.

On Friday, the company announced her departure in a press release.

“We are grateful for Linda Yaccarino’s leadership of NBCUniversal’s Advertising Sales business and for the innovative team and platform she has built,” Comcast president Mike Cavanagh said in a statement.

With a career spanning years, she managed a 2 000-member team since she joined NBCU.

Reports have it that she has been credited for ad sales success at NBCU, which amounts to more than $100 billion.

She is also the chair of Ad Council, a nonprofit organisation that promotes public service announcements.

In recent years, the organisation has worked with various entities, including the White House.

However, before joining NBC, Yaccarino was part of Turner, a global broadcasting company that Warner Bros now own.
