‘I planned my pregnancy’: Linda Mtoba on post-natal depression

The former ‘Isibaya’ actress says she wanted a different life for her daughter from the one she had growing up so she planned everything.

Actress Linda Mtoba has revealed intricate details about her pregnancy in her recent interview with Nounouche magazine.

Linda told the publication that she lives her life by the book so she planned having a baby because she wanted to be ready for that phase of her life.

“I somehow live by the book. I planned my pregnancy,” she says.

LINDA SUFFERED FROM POSTNATAL DEPRESSION

The mother of one says while her daughter has changed her life for the better, she suffered from prenatal depression towards the last trimester of her pregnancy.

“…My husband and I were ready but I felt overwhelmed and in a dark place during that time and could not see myself getting out of it.”

Linda says it took her husband’s strength and devotion for her to get out of that dark place but when her baby arrived, everything changed for her and she was back to herself.

The 31-year-old told the publication that her prayer for her daughter is that of divine protection, joy and that she may always feel loved.

THE LIFE SHE WANTS FOR HER DAUGHTER

The River actress says before her daughter was even conceived, she knew she wanted a different life for her.

“I was born in a loving, warm family. Raised by kind women but my father wasn’t there. I wanted to have my father around. Since then, I had a plan for what I wanted my family to look like.

She says even though her mother did a great job raising her, there are things she could not do or events she could not attend.

“My mother was young when she had me, a single parent, she had to work and at that time she didn’t even have a car,” Linda recalls.

She also said that she wanted to get married before having a child enjoy being married without having a child to worry about.

“My mother was very honest with me about some of the challenges she faced being a single mother and I knew I wanted better for myself. Growing up, I longed for my father and I knew then that I wanted my child to grow up in a two-parent household and God has been good in making that a reality for me,” Linda says.
