Lerato Kganyago and Katlego Maboe to host Metro FM Music Awards

Celebrated media personalities Lerato Kganyago and Katlego Maboe to host the Metro FM Music Awards slated for Mbombela, Mpumalanga, in May.

Mbombela Stadium will host the awards on 6 May as they mark their return after five-year hiatus. The much-awaited awards will be beamed live on SABC1 and streamed online on Metro FM’s YouTube channel and SABC+.

LERATO KGANYAGO AND KATLEGO MABOE TO HOST METRO FM AWARDS

According to IOL, Kganyago and Maboe will be the face of the awards thanks to their decades-long illustrious career. No doubt, the two are one of the most sought-after hosts in South Africa, and they have a colourful career to show for it.

A statement revealed that the two were chosen based on “their skills as sought-after hosts who can carry events of this calibre.”

“The two presenters exude class and high energy, elements that embody the prestigious Metro FM Awards,” the statement continued.

However, the last awards were capped with drama and thrills. In the previous awards in 2017, the late Riky Rick pulled a shocker when he swiped at the awards during his acceptance speech.

MMA 2023 AWARDS NOMINATIONS

As the awards bounce back, Hip-Hop rapper K.O leads the pack with seven nominations. The multi-award-winning rapper was nominated for the following:

• Song of the Year
• Best Collaboration Song
• Best Hip Hop Artist
• Best Male Artist
• Best Music Video
• Best Viral Challenge

On the other hand, AKA and Sjava were close behind the “Sete” hitmaker with six nominations apiece. The late AKA was nominated for:

• Song of the Year
• Best Hip Hop Artist
• Best Male
• Best Collaboration Song
• Artist Of The Year
• Best Music Video
