They say laughter is the best medicine, but for comedian, reality TV star, and YouTube personality Lasizwe Dambuza, it wasn’t enough to allow him to pursue his passion.

The award-winning star has announced the end of his successful channel after having a challenging year battling depression.

LASIZWE ANNOUNCES END OF YOUTUBE CHANNEL

In a heartbreaking video, Lasizwe announced that he would be leaving his popular YouTube channel in his past. Sadly, the decision had much to do with his personal woes.

He said: “Last year, I hit a brick wall; I became so depressed. I ended up in the hospital, I had a mental breakdown, and I decided to choose myself, not knowing how I was going to live.

“It was tough. I wasn’t consistent; I didnt give it my all. I decided to stop doing YouTube just to figure out what was going on with me”.

But while South Africans and even fans abroad love Lasizwe’s silly sense of humour, his comedy career came with too much pressure to shoulder.

He continued: “You’ve watched me grow [but] things have changed. To be honest, comedy is now my weak point. The videos I made back then, I can’t make them now”.

Lasizwe – who has created much loved fictional characters like Nomatriquency, Babes Wamaleyvels, and Sweerie- has used his YouTube channel for his comedy skits, challenges, vlogs, and his Drink or Tell The Truth show – will recreate some of his best videos, before signing off.

Becoming emotional, he added: “Thank you for loving me and going on this journey with me through the ups and downs, the trolls, the mental breakdowns, and the achievements.

“My life changed because of you. It’s not the end. It’s the beginning of a new era. It’s going to be a beautiful one!  Are you up for the challenge?”

NEW ADVENTURES ON THE HORIZON

While Lasizwe may be putting his personal YouTube channel to rest, he does have plans to start a business channel called The Africa Network channel.

But what exactly will it be about? Lasizwe himself does not know. He added: “We’re going to figure this out along the way.”

He added: “I want you to use this video for reference, and this time around, I’m doing it alone – I’m doing it with you!

“The goal is to get to one million subscribers by the end of the year, we can do it!”
