‘It’s heartbreaking’: Lady Zamar addresses backlash from trolls

Lady Zamar has finally spoken out about the hate she constantly receives on social media whenever she publishes a post.

Songstress Lady Zamar has been a victim of cyberbullying for the past couple of years on Twitter, and she has finally addressed the hateful comments.

In a tweet on Wednesday 8 February, the Love Is Blind singer — whose real name Yamikani Janet Banda — said that she feels “sad” for all her haters.

“Every time someone is really mean to me on social media because of rumours, gossip or slander they heard, I kinda feel sad for them.

“I know their intentions are to hurt me, but what I see are people who are hurting, who don’t have enough love and compassion… it’s heartbreaking,” she Lady zamar wrote.

In 2017, Lady Zamar accused her ex-boyfriend and musician Jabulan “Sjava” Hadebe of raping her — she proceeded to open a case against him.

Responding to allegations at the time, Sjava told followers he had filed an application for the matter to be heard in the high court.

“As a final statement on this matter, I write to you as my colleagues, business partners, peers and supporters to inform you that I will not be engaging on matters of assault and abuse levelled against me on social media or any other platform.

“I have instituted legal proceedings in the high court of SA and as such the matter is now sub judice,” he said in his statement.

However, in 2020, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) declined to prosecute as it believed “the facts or evidence do not support a successful prosecution” — Sowetan reported.

As a result of the NPA’s decision, fans have been on Lady Zamar’s case; accusing her of lying about the rape allegations and telling her to apologise.

Whenever she tweets, she is bombarded with comments about the rape allegations.
