Fans often show so much love and affection when they meet their favourite television or radio personality and for many Uzalo fans, Thuthuka Mthembu, is a favourite.

However, some fans do go a little overboard when they are overwhelmed with excitement and Nonka, as many viewers of the most-watched TV show in South Africa call her, has asked some of her fans to tone it down with the kisses, especially on her lips.

THUTHUKA MTHEMBU DOES NOT WANT TO BE KISSED ON THE LIPS

We may be out of the national state of disaster where COVID-19 is concerned, but that does not mean that the pandemic is over. Also, there are many other diseases and hygienic reasons which is why Thuthuka’s plea makes sense.

According to Daily Sun, the 23-year-old is not comfortable with some fans kissing her on the lips.

“I love my fans deeply. But sometimes they put me in an uncomfortable position. There are different incidents where some of them go as far as kissing me on the mouth. For me, this is not right,” said Thuthuka.

While this would make anyone uncomfortable, she admitted that she has never confronted them out of fear of disappointing them.

“Being celebrated is hard. And people are sensitive towards celebrities. It is easy for them to judge us. To them, it’s like we are living in another planet. Imagine telling an excited person to stop what they are doing? That would be interpreted as rude or arrogant. That’s what I sometimes go through. have to smile and pretend that everything is fine, whereas it’s the opposite.

‘CELEBRITIES HAVE RULES AND FEELINGS AS WELL’

Thuthuka went on to express that fans should also remember that they are human too, and mutual respect is required.

“I think fans must be taught how to treat celebrities. I don’t know who should teach them. But they must know that celebrities have rules and feelings as well. I know that without my fans, I’m nothing. I regard them as my bosses. But they must know that we must treat each other in a respectful way,” she added.

DEATH HOAX

While fans have enjoyed her onscreen talent and have grown to love her so much that some cross boundaries, another boundary that has been crossed by trolls on social media is the death hoax she was hit with in January.

“I’m alive and kicking. I’m not ill and I was not involved in a car accident. The news didn’t only hurt me, but also my loved ones.

“What hurts me most was that news outlets even ran stories saying I was dead without confirming it,” Thuthuka told Daily Sun at the time.
