‘Shut up, Karen’: The Kiffness under fire for ‘FREE DOM’ tweet
‘White Privilege’ singer The Kiffness ruffled feathers on Twitter after sharing his opinion on Freedom Day, the ANC and its voters.

Parody artist David Scott, popularly known as The Kiffness, was dragged on social media for his views about Freedom Day, a public holiday celebrated on 27 April.

THE KIFFNESS INSULTS THE ANC AND ITS VOTERS
In a tweet, the musician wrote: “Today we celebrate FREE DOM day. The ANC are FREE to loot our country & we’re too DOM to vote them out Happy FREE DOM day South Africa 🙏🏼❤️🇿🇦”

In a follow-up tweet, The Kiffness shared quotes by late ANC stalwarts; Oliver Tambo, Chris Hani and Nelson Mandela.

Freedom Day is the commemoration of the first democratic elections held in South Africa on 27 April 1994. The elections were the first national elections where everyone of voting age of over 18, and from any race group, was allowed to cast their vote.

TWEEPS DRAG THE MUSICIAN
The Kiffness’ tweet ruffled many feathers on Twitter as tweeps dragged him and called him disrespectful.
@dramadelinquent wrote: “You and I and others like us have NO idea what apartheid was like. You have no right to belittle those who suffered and fought for freedom for basic human rights to live freely. And yes, we live in a country that is crime ridden and under terrible governing – that doesn’t mean you get to down play what today signifies for millions of people.”
“Your forefathers did the looting when they got here…. You’re a beneficiary of that so ‘Shut Up Karen’ …” @PaulinaM1306 said.
“Imagine telling the majority of voting SAns they’re are dumb simply because they don’t vote the way you like. There’s nothing like the confidence of a mediocre white man. White privilege has no bounds,” @Wesleyfestersa replied to The Kiffness.
“What kind of artist has no imagination for race dynamics?? This is not even academic. I don’t think he’s dumb. He’s just racist,” @MakwenaManaka said.
