As it gets closer to a year since the UNGAZINCISHI hitmaker passed on, Musa Khawula paid his respect to the late Riky Rick on his Youtube channel yesterday, 7 February, as he gave his viewers his unfiltered opinions about the “profitable” strategies of the Cotton Festival and using the star’s name.

WHAT IS THE COTTON FEST?

According to In Your Pocket, the Cotton Festival (Cotton Fest) was founded by Riky Rick. It aims to “celebrate South African talent by bringing together a high-octane lineup of local artists, musicians, rappers, and DJs.”

This year’s line-up included top local artists such as Grammy Award winner Black Coffee, A -Reece, Cassper Nyovest, Focalistic, DJ Maphorisa, Young Stunna, Sjava, Stilo Magolide, Musa Keys, Pabi Cooper, DBN Gogo, and several others.

RIKY RICK’S TRAGIC DEATH

On 23 February last year, Riky Rick, real name Rikhado Makhado, reportedly took his own life at his estate home in the north of Johannesburg at 34, Sunday World reported. He had reportedly suffered from depression and was found hanging from a rope.

Previously reported by The South African, the Sidlukotini hitmaker was still alive when his managers found him. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but sadly died on the way.

Riky Rick’s legacy continues to live on as many musicians still uplift his name.

MUSA KHAWULA DISHES ON THE COTTON FEST EVENT

This year, the Cotton Fest was hosted on 4 February at The Old Railway Station in Newtown, Johannesburg, in honour of the late musician.

The controversial blogger took to his YouTube channel, The Pope of Culture and shared his views about the event, and said

“I want to talk about the nightmare that Cotton Fest was, oh my goodness. You know, I feel like they are pushing the show in order of the dead man, that Riky Rick…

“Everybody is just profiting. The dead man won this, the dead man whaawhaa that, but everybody is just profiting for themselves.”

At every junction of the mention of “the dead man”, Khawula could be seen bowing his head to pay his respect.

He then took jabs at Riky Rick’s baby mama Bianca Naidoo and said,

“And then we saw, you know, that b*tch? That Naidoo b*tch. She lied and said she is married to Riky Rick, but then she’s not married. That was so messy.

“Moving around posing as a wife and whatever; getting magazines and everybody thinking you’re the wife when it turns out you are just a girlfriend. You are just vat and setting like the rest of us.”
