Ka-Ching! Kelly Clarkson to pay R3 million A MONTH to husband

Kelly Clarkson’s estranged husband Brandon Blackstock will be laughing all the way to the bank soon: The singer has been ordered to fork out close to almost $200 000 (about R2.9-million) a month in spousal and child support.

According to The Blast, a Los Angeles County judge handed down the order on Tuesday, 27 July 2021, that the 39-year-old talk show host pay Blackstock $150 000 per month (more than R2.2 million) and an additional $45 601 (over R600 000) for their two children – River, six, and Remington, four.

This means Clarkson’s 43-year-old husband will receive exactly $195 601 in total from Clarkson each month, or roughly $2.4 million per year (more than R35 million). As per the order, the star is also required to pay $1.25 million towards her estranged husband’s attorney fees and costs for their ongoing divorce.

According to various tabloids, the amount is way less than what Brandon Blackstock had been aiming for – he had apparently wanted Kelly Clarkson pay him $436 000 per month (more than R6.4 million) – ($301 000 in spousal support and $135 000 in child support).

Clarkson, the host of her own talk show, filed for divorce in June 2020 after seven years of marriage. She reportedly appealed for a judge to officially sign off on her divorce earlier in July, leaving other arrangements such as spousal and child support for a later date.

The American Idol alum has been open about her struggles with her divorce and co-parenting with Blackstock.

“You can ask anyone who’s gone through a divorce, I don’t think anyone expects it. You see yourself growing old with someone and then life has a different path. It’s so hard on everyone, and you know me, I’m really open. I try to be open and share … We all go through things. But at the same time, we have four kids total with each other,” she said in an interview on the Today show.
