TOMMY DORFMAN’S HORMONE TREATMENT

In an interview with InStyle, Tommy Dorfman shared that although there are a few ways to transition, she chose to only take hormones.

“I’ve never felt better in my life. I spend 28 years of my life suicidal and depressed and recovering from alcoholism and drug addiction. I don’t think I’ve ever been genuinely happy until this past year.”

The actress opened up about everything she has learned since coming out as a transgender woman. She also shed light on how hormone treatment has since changed her body.

She explained that transitioning is a scary part of being trans and described it as, “kind of alien” and “emotionally wonky”.

“It’s incredibly autonomous. It’s puberty as an adult if you do it at my age – it’s a second puberty, and I think you’re supposed to go through puberty at an age when you don’t remember it because it hurts.”

‘THE IDEA OF PLAYING A MALE CHARACTER WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO ME’

She used to play video games like Mortal Kombat with her brother and she would only choose female characters for one reason.

“The idea of playing a male character was impossible to me,” she said.

Dorfman will make an appearance in Lena Dunham’s film Sharp Stick. The actress shared that she can’t wait to bring life to women onscreen. This will mark the actress’ first role as a trans woman.

She mentions that even though the role was one scene, it was a dream for her and shared that she is working on more projects with Lena Dunham.
