OJ Simpson’s ex-sports agent, Mike Gilbert, allegedly said in his 2008 book that the late American star once confessed to killing his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson, IOL reported.

According to the publication, OJ Simpson’s former sports agent, in his book titled How I Helped OJ Get Away With Murder: The Shocking Inside Story of Violence, Loyalty, Regret and Remorse, said that the late NFL-turned-actor once fessed up to killing his ex-wife while high on a cocktail of drugs and alcohol.

“If she hadn’t opened that door with a knife in her hand … she’d still be alive,” Gilbert’s book allegedly reads.

In 1995, OJ — real name Orenthal James “OJ” Simpson was acquitted of the murder of Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman in what was dubbed the “trial of the century.” The duo tragically died on 12 June 1994

Nicole was discovered stabbed and dead outside her condo in Los Angeles along with Goldman, CBS reported.

“[At] 6:50, I heard my mother scream, and I had never heard her scream like that before. I ran into her bedroom, and I said, ‘What’s the matter?’ And she said, ‘Your sister’s been killed.’ It was probably the most horrific thing I had heard in my life,” Nicole’s sister Denise was quoted as saying ten years after the incident.

On 10 April, OJ Simpson died of cancer, his family revealed in a statement. He succumbed to his death at 76 and was surrounded by family during his last moments. “During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace,” a statement which announced OJ’s death read.

Funeral details have not yet been released. However, OJ’s lawyer Malcolm LaVergne, who is also serving as the executor of Simpson’s estate, is said to have told People that the former NFL star will be cremated.

Speaking about the state of OJ’s children following their father’s death, Nicole’s sister, Tanya Brown, reported that the children are devastated. She was quoted as saying: “OJ is their dad and they love him, and you can’t take that away from them.”

Meanwhile, the Goldmans said they have struggled with seeing OJ continue living his life normally after their child was killed, saying it was like rubbing “salt in the wound”.

“People who murder belong on death row, not on the golf course,” Fred Goldman, Ron’s father, was quoted saying.
