Ariana Grande showed her unwavering support for her boyfriend, Ethan Slater, as he kicked off his week-long residency at Café Carlyle in New York City on Tuesday, 28 May.

The intimate venue was filled with theatre enthusiasts, all eager to witness Slater’s unique blend of music and storytelling.

Grande, seated in a cosy banquette with a small group of friends, was all smiles as she watched her beau perform.

Slater, best known for his role in the Broadway musical SpongeBob SquarePants, delighted the audience with an eclectic mix of songs.

He performed hits from iconic Broadway shows such as Fiddler on the Roof and Pippin.

This was alongside the original compositions and some soulful Bob Dylan covers, according to Daily Mail.

The talented performer also treated fans to two acoustic renditions from his SpongeBob SquarePants musical.

“She was laughing at all of his jokes in between songs and cheering for him after each song,” said an onlooker.

Ariana Grande’s infectious enthusiasm was palpable, adding a special charm to the evening, according to People.

The couple’s chemistry was evident, particularly when Slater glanced at Grande while singing a line about being “lucky to be in love.”

The audience couldn’t help but swoon at the adorable moment.

Slater, 31, who will portray Boq in the upcoming film adaptation of Wicked, spoke about his eventful year.

He referred to it as his “big year of change.”

He teased the audience by pretending to start a cover of Defying Gravity, a beloved song from Wicked.

The crowd excitedly buzzed, hoping Ariana Grande might join him on stage, according to The Sun.

Instead, Slater playfully switched to If I Only Had a Heart from the original Wizard of Oz film. This elicited hearty laughs from the audience.

“He’s extremely talented,” remarked the source.

“The show was mostly about him and his love of music and theatre. It was very entertaining.”

Grande, a vision of elegance, was enjoying herself.

She interacted warmly with those around her and shared a delightful dinner with her friends.

The intimate setting allowed Ariana Grande to relax and enjoy the evening without being swamped by fans.

“She was so sweet, smiling at everyone who caught her eye.

“She had a nice dinner with a small group of friends in one of the banquettes at the back.

“It was a very intimate crowd, mostly full of theatre fans. Nobody was bothering her,” the onlooker noted.

Ariana Grande also joined other patrons in singing Happy Birthday to a fellow dinner guest when a dessert with a candle was brought out.

This moment further highlighted her gracious and down-to-earth nature.

The couple’s relationship has grown stronger since they began dating last July after meeting on the set of Wicked.

“Ariana is serious with Ethan,” a source shared last December.

“She loves being with him.” Ariana Grande’s frequent presence at Slater’s performances, including his recent run in Spamalot, shows their mutual support and passion for theatre.

“They love to support each other in their work,” the source added.

“When she’s done with work, Ariana loves going to the theatre when she can.”

With Grande cheering him on, Slater’s Café Carlyle residency is off to a memorable start. Their love and support for each other continue to captivate fans and make headlines.
