‘I did not get a cent from my album sales’: Makhadzi opens up

Makhadzi has opened up about her relationship with Open Mic Productions, saying she did not get any cent from her album sales.
For the past three years, Makhadzi’s career went international, and everyone naturally thought she was making a lot of money.

Most of her songs have reached over a billion views on YouTube; some even called her ‘The African Queen’.
However, despite all that success in the past three years, the ‘Matorokisi’ hitmaker has reportedly not been cashing in as one may expect.
Many issues had been happening behind the scenes, with her stormy relationship with Open Mic Productions draining her.

Sharing her frustration on Twitter, Makhadzi answered fans’ questions asking why she did not renew the contract.

Fans thought that Makhadzi’s relationship with Open Mic Productions was why she excelled, but they were wrong.
Indeed, this is a big blow to Open Mic Productions, given how massive Makhadzi has grown as a brand.

Adding to her frustration, Makhadzi said that some of her songs and albums reached gold, but still, she did not get a cent.
Instead, she continued working, waiting for the contract to end and move on with her career.
Here is what Makhadzi said:
“So I can see those clause? And how positive is that to renew my contract without sitting down with me? And how about my money for my album cz you haven’t never sent any cent , how possible is that for you to renew my contract without coming to me, what if I not happy working with.”

The news did not sit well with Makhadzi’s fans worldwide, who sympathised with her.
It was shocking to many fans that Makhadzi did not get any money from her albums.

Some even tipped her to sue them and get her money from the albums back.
Some fans could not understand how she survived if she wasn’t getting paid for her albums.
