Taking to his podcast, DJ Sbu retracted all the claims about the former minister that Tabane made on the podcast.

The club DJ admitted that none of the allegations were verified and apologised for spreading false information.

“His allegations have not been substantiated or independently verified by us The Hustlers Corner as a podcast and these allegations are vehemently denied by Mr Trevor Manuel,” he said.

In addition, he said that he’d, in further, host an episode that educates about journalistic integrity.

TABANE REFUSES TO APOLOGISE

While DJ Sbu has issued his end of the apology, as requested by Manuel’s lawyers, Tabane is reportedly refusing to apologise for his claims.

According to News24 on 12 May, Manuel revealed that Tabane confirmed that he had received his letter and that he was indeed interviewed on the podcast. However, the eNCA anchor and political commentator refused to apologise.

“If he [Tabane] is refusing to retract, the only means I have to make him retract is to take the legal route,” he said.

“I know that I am standing on solid ground, and I know that litigation is unbelievably expensive,” he continued.

Following this, TimesLIVE later revealed that Manuel applied to the Johannesburg high court, seeking an order to force Tabane and DJ Sbu to retract the claims unconditionally.

In addition, he is demanding the duo jointly pay him R100 000 in damages for defamation.
