WHERE IT ALL BEGAN: KABZA DE SMALL COMPARED TO MAJOUR LEAGUE

In the debate, one of the speakers said that she believed “local impact stops counting. Slowly but surely, they are going to they have to start recycling the stuff that they play.” She added that South African fans were the ones who kept local musician’s music alive.

Another guests from the podcast made an example with the Major League DJs and argued that their music was more impactful than Kabza’s. adding that this was because the twins were also getting booked on international gigs.

Mzansi chimed in on the debate and had their own conversation online. Twitter user @jerry_mkhatshwa said,

“But she’s making it seem as if Africa isn’t good enough, as if local musicians definitely need the European crowd to be an “International” artist…

“Kabza de Small is the KING of amapiano and we don’t need Europe’s approval to know that. He already made it clear here in Africa & that’s it, the tweep added”

@QMLmo argued that, “It’s not about being good at music or singing, it’s about impact.”

“DURING MY PRIME”: HEAVY-K ADDS HIS TWO CENTS TO THE DEBATE

The Inde hit-maker stuck up for Kabza on Twitter and said that all musicians get compared to one another when they reached their prime. He added that people had done the same thing to him when he reached his prime.

 “What they doing to Kabza is the same-thing they did to me during my prime! I knew it would happen being a hit-maker & consistency irritates some of our people so much that they compare you to each & every artist that rises,” Heavy-K shared.

Tweeps mopped the floor with Heavy-K and told him that the debate had absolutely nothing to do with him so he best to stay in his lane and zip it.

But the musician was persistent. He could be seen sending back and forth tweets to his followers who trolled him for no longer being in his prime and said he had never reached Kabza’s prime because the amapiano DJ created a whole genre, unlike him who was “just like any other house DJ that got big.”

“During my prime” Shame man you have accepted that you fell off.”

@KeithGwangwa asked:

“What did they do to you?”

@okayforyoune said:

“Lol grootman. You had to include yourself. Your prime was nothing like Kabza’s prime. You were making hits for a genre that already been big. You weren’t the first to do thing on your own genre. You were just like any house DJ that got big. Kabza is different. “
