Gun linked to AKA’s murder recovered in Umlazi – report

A man in his 20s was arrested in Umlazi after being found in possession of an unlicensed gun linked to AKA’s murder.

The gun allegedly used in the murder of Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane was reportedly recovered over the weekend.

According to IOL, a close source to the investigation confirmed the recovery of the gun despite being authorised to speak to the media.

The gun was reportedly recovered in Umlazi, south of Durban, at the weekend.

GUN REPORTEDLY USED IN AKA’S MURDER RECOVERED

According to Kaya959, a man in his 20s was nabbed after being found in possession of the firearm

The firearm reportedly tested positive after being sent for ballistic testing concerning AKA’s murder.

However, in the wake of the developing news, the police are yet to offer an official press release.

According to unconfirmed reports, the gun was for hire. AKA and Tebello were gunned down at point blank on 10 February 2023 outside Florida Road, Durban.

The recovery of the firearm is the latest update on the case. In March, four men were nabbed allegedly in connection with the murder but were later released after the police reportedly failed to charge them.

The suspects were arrested in Cape Town on 26 March 2023.

Despite several leads in the murder case of AKA, Lynn Forbes revealed that she fears the person who paid the hitmen to take out AKA might not be found.

He was just doing a job. We might have an arrest on the person who pulled the trigger, but whether we find the person who paid for that bullet, that one, I’m not sure about.”
