‘Gomora’: Thabang Moleya opens up about alcohol addiction

‘Gomora’ director Thabang Moleya shares he’s been sober for 10 years and opens up the challenges of overcoming alcohol usage.

Seriti Films’ Thabang Moleya who’s also the director of TV shows Redemption and Gomora shared his alcohol addiction on Maps Maponyane’s new show Mzansi Icons.

The talented Gomora director Thabang Moleya also shared a video clip of his interview from the new Mzansi Magic show, where he revealed that he’s stayed away from alcohol for 10 years.   

Daily Sun reports that Moleya also revealed that he was involved in a car accident and that he was scared to lose his life during the time of the crash.   

“May your challenges and struggles become testimonies of God’s mercy and grace. Sometimes the brightest light shines from the darkest places.”  

Moleya also thanked TV personality Maps Maponyane for inviting him to his TV show and sharing his experiences.   

“Maps, thank you for the conversation brother. Appreciate you. 10 years sober and telling my story. God’s speed.“

TVSA reports that Gomora is still the most-watched TV show on DStv with more than 1 million viewers in September.   

According to News24, the third season of multi-award-winning telenovela Gomora introduced new characters such as Moshe Ndiki as Andile Faku, Fezile Makhanya as Principal Cele, and more.   

Season two of the telenovela ended on a bloody cliffhanger when one of the lead character’s newly-wedded husband, Phumlani Langa who had been keeping Thati (Katlego Danke) hostage, was killed by her former lover Melusi Dlamini.  

Actors Ama Qamata who played Buhle Langa, Zolisa Xaluva who played Melusi Dlamini, Buyile Mdladla who played Phumlani exited season three which premiered on 25 April.
