Frans Malherbe’s soon-to-be-wife: Five things to know about Ingrid

Springbok stalwart Frans Malherbe is marrying fiancée Ingrid van Huyssteen on Saturday, 4 February. Here are five things to know about the wife to be.

On Tuesday, Eben Etzebeth was the big winner as SA Rugby unveiled its awards for 2022, with the towering lock having been named the Player of the Year.

Speaking at a press conference at SARU House, SA Rugby’s headquarters in Plattekloof, Cape Town, Etzebeth revealed that he and Malherbe will tie the knot on the SAME day. Yes that’s right, Eben Etzebeth and Frans Malherbe are both getting married on this coming Saturday.

“Siya is at my wedding and Scarra (Ntubeni) at his. I told Siya and Scarra they have to video call each other at some stage during the evening and then just give the phones to me and Frans to we can congratulate each other,” he said.

Malherbe asked for his long-time girlfriend’s hand in marriage in July 2022 and she said yes. Van Huyssteen took to Instagram to share the wonderful news of their engagement, with the likes of fellow Springbok WAGS Leyla Kolbe, Rachel Kolisi, Holly Nichol, Hope Mort, Constance de Jäger and Nazli Leyds all sending messages of congratulations in the comments section of her post.

So, just who is Ingrid van Huyssteen? Here are five things to know about her:

— Originally from Pretoria, Van Huyssteen attended Affies (Afrikaanse Hoër Meisieskool). 

— Van Huyssteen holds a BA Humanities degree which she obtained from Stellenbosch University. 

— She’s been dating Frans Malherbe for close to seven years. The couple starting dating back in April 2016.

— Ingrid works as a creative account manager at Lark Haus, a boutique consultancy firm.

— Frans Malherbe’s fiancée had two bachelorette parties. One in early December 2022 and one in late January 2023.
