Like he did earlier this month when Portugal made an early exit from the Fifa World Cup, South African rapper AKA has thrown shade at former Manchester United player Cristiano Ronaldo. In the same breath, the outspoken muso has also praised the footballer’s rival: Lionel Messi, who lifted the World Cup trophy for the first time on behalf of Argentina.

On Sunday, 18 December, Argentina defeated France to win the Fifa tournament. The win signalled a momentous occasion for Messi, who like Cristiano Ronaldo, has made their final appearance in a World Cup. Cristiano has never won the World Cup in his professional career.

Taking to his social media pages, AKA used Messi’s victory as a means to antagonise Cristiano Ronaldo, whom he tagged in the post.

Wearing the Argentina flag around his body, AKA held a replica of the World Cup trophy. But his caption had nothing to do with Messi himself but another shady attack on Cristiano.

The SA muso posted a quote from former Manchester United coach Sir Alex Ferguson which read: “No player is bigger than the club”.

But followers of the local hitmaker were both confused and amused by his angry diss.

smangaliso__mn: “He doesn’t know you bro”

bagboiife: “See this dead rapper tagging Ronaldo, who are you? When last did you drop a hit ?”

almondreaux_williams: “So you had this in the drafts?”

ogblvnco: “You are in over your head AKA. Rest clout chaser”

‘NOW HE MUST PAY’

AKA’s World Cup diss comes weeks after he poked fun at Cristiano Ronaldo, who left the World Cup in tears.

The local muso is a staunch supporter of Manchester United, the English premier league Cristiano formally played at. But that all changed following his bombshell interview with Piers Morgan last month, which AKA claimed was the football star “throwing a tantrum” about his experience there. In the following weeks, Manchester United cut ties with Ronaldo, who happily obliged.

The soccer star has since been linked to a deal with a Saudi Arabian club, which he has denied.

But the drama of his scathing attack on his former team, and its coach Erek ten Hag, has seemingly followed Cristiano Ronaldo into the World Cup match.

After being initially benched by the Portugal coach, AKA quipped that decision was “karma” for his “disgusting” interview.

He tweeted earlier: “CR7 broke my damn heart, and now he must pay” and “Nobody and nothing is bigger than Manchester United.”

He added in a series of shady tweets:

“Tell me why any coach in their right mind would start Ronaldo again for the rest of this tournament.”

“Portugal looking dangerous without the washed goat… CR7 must just prepare to wind down his career with FC ANAT FALAFEL or whatever.

“Ket, the lad G Ramos play! Out with the old, in with the new!”

“There we go … G RAMOS! The new RONALDO!”
