Eskom’s loadshedding – now escalated to Stage 6 – has had South Africans annoyed, angry and frustrated at how their daily lives have been affected.

And celebrities are also in their feelings about SA’s energy crisis too!

On Tuesday, Eskom revealed that it had lost 10 generating units overnight leading to extensive loadshedding – which was previously only  implemented on 9 December 2019.

For many, this means four and a half hours of no electricity – in the middle of winter!

Taking to their social media accounts, a number of celebrities bemoaned Eskom’s decision to implement Stage 6 loadshedding.

Here’s what they had to say:

Prince Kaybee: “So where does one go for 4 hours to pass time?”

Mihlali: “A death penaty”

Sol Phenduka: “Stage 6 . Now we cook dinner in the morning. Soon we will be buying minimal meat and food groceries to avoid spoilage  in the fridge”.

Marc Lottering: “Wtf.  It’s getting harder to tell jokes in SA”

AKA: “Surely it’s time to consider an alternative to Eskom in terms of providing power to our country. When you’re the only choice, what incentive is there to deliver? As a monopoly, there are no consequences for poor performance”

“Anything is better than this”

DJ Warras: “The country can’t function on Stage 6. It’s time for Eskom to hand over the reigns to the Chinese that they’ve been romancing for years”

“Generators can’t run 24/7. The switching on and off every 3 hours will have devastating consequences”

STAGE 6 – WHEN WILL IT END?

Ina pinned post on Twitter, Eskom revealed that Stage 6 loadshedding would take place again from 16:00 to 22:00 on Wednesday.

Stage 4 loadshedding would commence from 22:00 until midnight, and Stage 2 would kick in thereafter until 05:00 on Thursday morning.  Stage 4 loadshedding is likely to continue again on Thursday.
