R96 000: Another employee robs DJ Zinhle

R96 000 Stolen: Multi-award-winning musician DJ Zinhle has been robbed by a second employee in Era By DJ Zinhle store.

Entrepreneur and musician, Ntombezinhle Jiyane, who’s popularly known as DJ Zinhle has been robbed of R96 000, by an employee.

Daily Sun reported on Friday, 19 May that the multi-award-winning Ntombezinhle Jiyane was robbed R96 000 by another employee.

The publication adds that the Umlilo hitmaker caught an employee from her Era By DJ Zinhle store in Menlyn, Tshwane stealing from her. 

“The employee is accused of stealing items worth R96 000, was arrested on 12 January and appeared at the Pretoria Magistrates Court”, adds the publication. 

According to the report: “The complainant alleged that she employed (the suspect) at her store, then she started to become suspicious that the business wasn’t running well in terms of profit. She then went with her friends to the store, and they bought some items. Later, she went back to the store and asked to see the money for the day, and she failed to produce. She gave her R200, then she confessed she took it. They also went to her place where they found the items from the store.”

Gauteng police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo confirmed: “A case of theft was opened at Brooklyn Police Station. The suspect, aged 23, was arrested and appeared at Pretoria Magistrates Court.”

City Press reported in May 2022 that the media personality-turned businesswoman DJ Zinhle opened a case against her former employee after allegedly being robbed of R500 000.

The former employee, Phumzile Diko was set to appear at the Protea Magistrates’ Court for fraud after allegedly stealing R500 000 from the musician’s business account.

National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane said at the time that Diko worked with the star in the accounts department of her company.
