The Wall Street Journal has stuck to its guns after reporting on Sunday last weekend that US mogul Elon Musk severed his friendship with Google co-founder Sergey Brin after having an affair with Brin’s now estranged wife Nicole Shanahan. Musk however continues to vehemently deny the report and took to his Twitter to share a short photo of himself partying with Brin.

Meanwhile, his mother Maye Musk has joined in on denying the rumours and has accused certain publications of organising a smear campaign against her billionaire son.

Elon Musk, 51, maintains that he did not have an affair with Nicole Shanahan, 38, who is currently in the process of a divorce from her billionaire husband Sergey Brin.

According to a Wall Street Journal report, Musk and Shanahan had a brief affair while at an arts festival in December last year.

Musk has however dismissed the article saying that he works too many b to have time for “shenanigans”.

“The character assassination attacks have reached a new level this year, but the articles are all nothing-burgers. I work crazy hours, so there just isn’t much time for shenanigans,” he tweeted.

Taking to Twitter, the Tesla and SpaceX founder accused WSJ editor Michael Siconolfi of being a liar.

He also shared a video of himself partying with Sergey Brin in an attempt to discredit WSJ’s allegations that the affair ruined their friendship.

Sticking to their guns

The publication has since spoken out against Musk by saying that they are sticking to the report and have a reliable source behind it.

“We are confident in our sourcing, and we stand by our reporting,” WSJ told The Daily Mail in an email statement.

Meanwhile, Musk’s mom has also come to his defense and says that there is a “smear campaign” underway against her son.
