South African musician Dr Malinga, real name Goodwill Malinga, left many people saddened after he broke down on MacG’s Podcast and Chill while explaining that he is facing financial difficulties. The episode went viral as many of his fans offered words of encouragement and support. A number of celebrities – including local DJ Black Coffee – also offered to help the debt-riddled singer.

Shortly after the news that Black Coffee was getting involved hit, rumours started circulating that Coffee had given Malinga R500k – something he has since headed online to deny.

Dr Malinga DID NOT get R500k from Black Coffee

Many people have banded together to give Via Orlando hitmaker Dr Malinga a helping hand after he revealed that a number of his personal belongings were being targeted by debt collectors.

Musicians such as Makhadzi, Kabza de Small, and even Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema stepped in to offer him some assistance.

Black Coffee is also one of the artists who offered to help the singer but contrary to popular belief – he did not give Dr Malinga R500 000.

Shortly after rumours started circulating, Dr Malinga headed to his Twitter page to debunk them.

“Hi guys, @therealblackcoffee did not give me R500k. Please let’s not mislead people,” he wrote in the tweet.

‘Giving negative vibes’

Social media users shared various reactions to the tweet with some of them criticising the singer for sharing that he didn’t get R500k.

Some of them even wrote that he was behaving “weirdly” on Twitter.
