Over the last few days, South Africans have been complaining about seeing Somizi in so many shows — new and old. Many have accused the media personality of gatekeeping the entertainment industry and preventing fresh talent from getting opportunities. They have also bemoaned the new season of his reality show Living the Dream with Somizi after a trailer revealed he would be discussing his failed “marriage to Mohale”.

Despite this, musician turned entrepreneur Sbusiso Leope — known also as DJ Sbu — has given the former Idols SA judge his followers.

DJ Sbu praises Somizi

South African TV and radio presenter Somizi Mhlongo is definitely booked and busy.

The former Idols SA judge has his own reality TV show, is a presenter on Metro FM and was recently announced as one of the panelists on The Masked Singer SA.

For many, his prominence in the South African entertainment industry tends to be a little bit overbearing. Over the last few days, he has been called out for blocking the way for upcoming talent.

The god of the entertainment industry?

“I don’t think a lot of 2000s understand the difficult years Somizi has had to go through. He grew up in this industry, he comes from the days of Sarafina!. Somizi’s mother is legendary. Somizi’s father is legendary,” he said.

There isn’t anything he has not done in this industry. Somizi is the god of the South African entertainment industry, and he’s not going anywhere.”
