Deborah Fraser’s family on ’empty promises’ by Universal Music

The late Gospel singer Deborah Fraser’s family were reportedly struggling with getting royalties owed by Universal Music to the late SA icon.

The late gospel singer Deborah Fraser’s family, is reportedly at loggerheads with the late singer’s record company Universal Music, accusing the record label for not “keeping its promise” with the royalties owed to the late South African gospel musician, Daily Sun reported.

DEBORAH FRASER’S FAMILY STRUGGLES TO GET HER ROYALTIES

Guardian Nontando Mafisa, speaking with the publication was quoted as saying,

“We had a meeting with them after the funeral, and they promised to release her last album. Unfortunately, that was the last time we heard from them. We are now wondering if they’ll ever keep their promise. We’ve called them, emailed them asking about this album, but no one is responding.”

An email was reportedly sent out, which indicated the disappointment in the lack of communication from the record company. The family spokesperson also reportedly asked for an update on behalf of the late singer’s children.

The late singer’s son, Nkosana Fraser, reportedly also expressed his disappointment towards the record label.

“I have never dealt with Universal Music directly, but Nontando has been communicating with them on our behalf. My mother worked very hard for that company. She loved that company, but it seems they have forgotten about her hard work…The main problem is the lack of communication from their side.

ABOUT DEBORAH FRASER’S DEATH

The Abanye Bayombona hitmaker reportedly suffered a stroke on Sunday,15 May last year, at the age of 56.

According to News24, the family spokesperson, Nontando, revealed that the late gospel star had been suffering from an illness and died in the presence of her family and friends.

Previously reported by The South African, Grammy Award winner Zakhele Madida, popularly known by his stage name Zakes Bantwini is caught in a legal battle with his recording company Paradise Africa Distribution (PAD).
