Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo will earn €200 million (R3 billion) to promote Saudi Arabia’s joint 2023 World Cup in addition to his salary according to a source close to the club.

CRISTIANO RONALDO TO EARN R7.3 BILLION IN SAUDI ARABIA 

eNCA reports that Cristiano Ronaldo, who moved to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to join football club Al-Nassr, will be earning €400 million (R7.3 billion). Saudi Arabia, along with Egypt and Greece are bidding to host world football’s 2030 showpiece tournament. So, the footballer will be earning an additional  €200 million (R3 billion).

Ronaldo’s ambassadorial role will bring his earnings to over €400 million (R7.3 billion).

“Ronaldo will be paid more than €200 million(R3 billion) for the deal,” said a source according to eNCA.

“He will be an ambassador for the Saudi World Cup 2030 bid for another 200 million,” the source continued.

This comes just weeks after neighbouring country Qatar became the first Arab country to host the World Cup.

THE FOOTBALLER IS STAYING IN A R5MILLION-A-MONTH SUITE TEMPORARILY 

According to Daily Mail, Cristiano Ronaldo and his fiancée Georgina Rodriguez have moved into the Kingdom Tower – one of the tallest buildings in Saudi Arabia. This comes after the footballer’s move to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia as he joined football club Al-Nassr.

The publication reports that the footballer and his family along with his entourage, friends and security have been up in one of the best suites in Riyadh.

The bill is estimated to surpass £250 000 (R5.1 million) when the footballer checks out.
