Generations once made all sorts of headlines when Chris Brown and Samuel L Jackson appeared on the SABC 1’s drama series. No doubt, Generations: The Legacy is one of the most-watched drama series in South Africa.

Despite rebranding from Generations to Generations: The Legacy, the drama series has wowed viewers with its captivating storylines that are capped with drama and thrills.

However, its star-studded cast has been credited for doing justice to storylines.

The drama series went down in the history books of soapie operas when award-winning American rapper Chris Brown starred in the drama series alongside some of South Africa’s finest.

Chris Brown was cast as himself in 2008, and his storyline was to encourage Ajax, played by Sipho ‘Psyfo’ Ngwenya, after he was involved in a motorbike accident days before he was set to go on a musical tour.

Of interest is Andile Ncube hosted Chris Brown and tagged Mzekezeke, who mocked Chris Brown live on TV.

In 2013 the drama series pulled another shocker when it cast multi-award-winning actor Samuel L. Jackson for a cameo appearance.

He wowed South Africa with his unmatched flair as he perfectly nailed his role. During that year, he even presented an award at the prestigious SAFTAs.

With Chris Brown and Samuel L Jackson’s appearances, Generations made history.

16 ACTORS WERE FIRED FROM THE DRAMA SERIES

In the wake of its newfound fame, the drama series has had its fair share of drama.

It made headlines when the showrunners axed its star-studded cast after demanding better working conditions and salaries.

In 2014 the drama series fired 16 actors after resisting calls to return to work at the studios in Johannesburg.

The showrunners went on to cast new actors and rebranded the drama series to Generations: The Legacy. The new series came with a new storyline and plot.
